Steam Pressure Reducing Valves

The Pressure Reducing Valve, also known as a Steam Pressure Regulator, is an important piece of maintaining an efficient steam system. To be efficient, most steam boilers are designed to work at relatively high pressures, while the majority of applications require a lower steam pressure. To achieve this and avoid wasting steam (and money), pressure reducing valves regulate the steam pressure. There are two main types of valves:

The first group, Direct Acting Pressure Regulators are used for steam, liquids, compressed air and other gases. The second group, Pilot Operated Pressure Reducing Valves, can be used to accurately control downstream pressure regardless of variations in steam load and upstream pressures. The Spirax Sarco 25P valves have a unique feature - two or more pressure pilots can be combined on the same regulator body.
