Spirax Sarco BTS7 Balanced Pressure Thermostatic Clean Steam Traps

The Spirax Sarco BTS7 Balanced Pressure Clean Thermostatic Steam Trap is a sealed thermostatic steam trap designed to remove condensate from (chemical free) clean steam systems with minimal backup. Its performance is influenced by surrounding steam pressure, and it is controlled by the concentration of the liquid mixture within its capsule whose boiling point is below that of water. At start-up, when conditions are cold, the capsule remains relaxed and the valve is fully open, allowing unrestricted discharge of air. As condensate flows through the trap, it heats up the capsule. The liquid inside then vaporizes before steam reaches the trap, building vapor pressure that expands the capsule and closes the valve. When heat is lost, the vapor condenses, the capsule contracts, and the valve reopens to release condensate. As steam approaches, the cycle repeats.

The BTS7.1 is the version with sanitary clamp ends and an Internal 20 min (0.5 µm) Ra and SF1 and external 32 min (0.075 µm) Ra combined surface finish. BTS7 Thermostatic Steam Traps with FNPT ends are available in ¼”, ½”, ¾”, and 1” nominal sizes, while traps with tube ends are available in ½”, ¾”, and 1” nominal sizes. BTS7.1 Thermostatic Steam Traps with sanitary clamp ends are available in ½” and ¾” nominal sizes. Made from 316L Stainless Steel with minimal crevices, this trap is self-draining and operates close to steam temperature. The maximum operating pressure of all Spirax BTS7 Steam Traps for saturated steam service is 102 PSIG (7 bar g) and its maximum operating temperature is 338°F (170°C). 

Each Spirax Sarco BTS7 Balanced Pressure Thermostatic Steam Trap and Spirax Sarco BTS7.1 Balanced Pressure Thermostatic Steam Trap is individually packaged with protective end caps and sealed in a polythene bag. It is used in applications such as sterile steam barriers, process vessels and CIP/SIP systems. The BTS7 Steam Trap and BTS7.1 Steam Trap are designed to be installed in vertical lines with the flow moving downwards to ensure self-draining operation. Do not expose the capsule element to superheat conditions and suitable isolation valves must be installed for safe maintenance or replacement.
