Spirax Sarco TD42 Thermodynamic Steam Traps

The Spirax Sarco TD42 Thermodynamic Steam Trap is designed to control the release of condensate and trap steam using a disc mechanism. These thermodynamic traps cycle periodically to discharge condensate very near to steam temperature and seal tightly between discharges. They are unaffected by water hammer or superheat. Typical Spirax TD42 Steam Trap applications include steam main drainage, tracer lines, process equipment, and outdoor installations subject to freezing. 

This product line includes TD42L Thermodynamic Steam Traps and TD42H Thermodynamic Steam Traps. The TD42L series is a low-capacity thermodynamic steam trap, meaning that these steam traps are specifically designed for relatively small condensate loads which also makes them ideal for main drainage applications. The TD42H series is a high-capacity thermodynamic steam trap which means that this line of traps is designed for process loads.

They are made with an integral strainer and an external Stainless Steel body surface with an oxidation-resistant, electroless nickel plate (ENP) coating. TD42L Steam Traps are available from ½” to ¾” in nominal size, and TD42H is available in ½", ¾" and 1” nominal sizes. These Stainless-Steel steam traps have FNPT end connections. Their maximum operating temperature is 600 PSIG, and the maximum operating temperature is 753°F at all pressure levels.

TD42 Blowdown Valve Retrofit Kits, Old Style Insulating Covers, and other steam trap parts may also be available.

Full-port isolating valves should be installed upstream and downstream of these traps to allow for the isolation of the trap from both supply and return line pressure. The trap can operate in any position, but the preferred installation is on a horizontal pipe. The complete isolation of the trap from both supply and return line pressure is required before any service or maintenance can be performed.
