The High Sample Temperature (HST) thermal shut-off valve protects expensive and delicate sample analyzers from over-temperature damage in the event of a sample cooler failure. This thermostatic valve is used as a fail-safe to automatically and continuously sense the sample temperature after the sample cooler in steam and water analysis systems and other sampling systems. Under normal conditions, the valve is wide open, so the sample fluid passes through the valve. In the event of a loss of cooling fluid to the sample cooler or if the desired sample temperature is exceeded for any reason, the self-operating HST valve will close to prevent damage to the instrumentation downstream. Once the fluid cools back below the set point, the valve will automatically reset open again and resume flow.
