As this method grows in popularity, we receive many questions about proper use. As a distributor who specializes in steam products, two of the most common questions we are asked by customer are: Can we use ProPress fittings on steam? Are Viega MegaPress Fittings rated for steam?

Viega answers these important questions in the Viega Metals Solutions: Viega ProPress and MegaPress Systems Brochure. Page 17 provides a list of applications and confirms which metal systems are appropriate for a wide variety of applications. The list below shows which Veiga ProPress and MegaPress systems are rated for steam use:

304 Stainless and 304 Stainless XL (FKM) is approved for use in Low Pressure Steam Applications, max 15 psig / max 248 deg F.
ProPress 316 Stainless and 316 Stainless XL (EPDM) is approved for use in Low Pressure Steam Applications, max 15 psig / max 248 deg F.
ProPress and ProPress XL (EPDM) is approved for use in Low Pressure Steam Applications, max 15 psig / max 248 deg F.
MegaPress (EPDM) is approved for use in Low Pressure Steam Applications, max 15 psig / max 248 deg F.
MegaPress XL (FKM) is approved for use in Low Pressure Steam Applications, max 15 psig / max 248 deg F.
MegaPressG (HNBR) is NOT approved for use in Steam Applications.
Viega PureFlo: is NOT approved for use in Steam Applications.
