The trap contains a float valve mechanism which modulates to discharge condensate continuously at steam temperature, while non-condensable gases are released by a separate internal balanced pressure thermostatic air vent.

Spirax Sarco FT-15 Steam Traps are convenient to maintain as they can be serviced without disrupting piping connections. Nonetheless, prior to any maintenance, it's crucial to fully isolate the trap from both the supply and return lines. Periodic disassembly of the trap is necessary for thorough inspection and cleaning of its valve head, seat, operating mechanism, and air vent. Any worn or damaged components should be replaced using an air vent assembly or complete valve mechanism assembly. The Spirax FT-15 Rebuild Kit includes Air Vent Assembly and Valve Mechanism with Float attached to a Cover and supplied with a Cover Gasket, Nameplate and a set of Cover Bolts. Gasket kits are also available (sold in sets of 3).
