Kunkle Model 6283 Safety Relief Valves

Kunkle 6283 Safety Relief Valves are engineered for steam, air, and gas services, and they are designed with an oversized side outlet and full nozzle design. These Bronze Safety Relief Valves are suitable for use with steam boilers and generators, reciprocating or rotary, portable or stationary air/gas compressors, intercoolers, and aftercoolers, as well as pressure vessels on pressure-reducing stations that contain steam, air or non-hazardous gas. Their heavy-duty casting contains a lift lever assembly, Brass/Bronze lapped seats for optical flatness, and a wide hex on the valve nozzle that provides clearance for easy installations

They are available in nominal sizes from ¾” x 1-¼” to 2” x 3” with MNPT x FNPT (inlet x outlet) ends. Their set pressure ranges from 3 PSIG to 300 PSIG and their maximum temperature ranges from -60°F to 425°F. Kunkle 6283 Safety Valves have grooved piston type discs for a reduced slide area and friction, and the pivot between the disc and spring corrects misalignment and compensates for spring side thrust. These valves have dual control rings with easy adjustability for precise opening with minimal pre-open or simmer and blowdown control. They may be available with O-Rings for leak-free, improved shut off performances.

Following the model number, the name of each 6283 Bronze Safety Relief Valve includes two letters. The first letter (D, E, F, G, H, and J) represents the orifice size, and the second letter (C, D, E, F, G, H, and J) represents the inlet size. Listed by inlet size, this product line includes:

Model 6283 Relief Valves are made for Air/Gas ASME Section VIII and Steam ASME Section I services. Steam services can operate up to 250 PSI while air/gas services can operate up to 300 PSIG. These valves are tested and inspected for pressure settings and leakage.
