Spirax Sarco TD52 Thermodynamic Steam Traps

Spirax Sarco TD52 Thermodynamic Steam Traps cycle periodically to discharge condensate very near to steam temperature. Unaffected by waterhammer or superheat, TD52 Steam Traps are ideal for use in steam main drainage and tracer lines, as well as process equipment, laundry and kitchen equipment, superheated steam applications, and in outside installations subject to freezing conditions. This steam trap line also includes TD52L Thermodynamic Steam Traps for low-capacity operations, and they are ideal for main drainage applications.

The Spirax Sarco TD52 Thermo-Dynamic Steam Trap series also includes a variety of “universal” UTD series traps, offering a unique solution to maintaining the disc in the horizontal plane through its universal connector. This includes low-capacity, UTD52L, UTD52SL, UTD52L-HP steam traps and high capacity UTD52H and UTD52SH steam traps.  

The Spirax Sarco TD52 Thermodynamic Steam Trap is made of Stainless Steel and comes with NPT end connections. The TD52 is available in 3/8", ½”, ¾” and 1", while the TD52L is only available in ½” and ¾” sizes. The UTD series is also made from Stainless Steel with NPT ends, but these traps may also be available with socket weld ends. UTD traps are available in ½”, ¾”, and 1” nominal sizes. 

TD52 Series Steam Traps as well as UTD52L-HP Steam Traps are rated up to 600 psig (42 barg) max operating pressure with an 800˚F maximum operating temperature. UTD52 Series Steam Traps are rated up to 450 PSIG (31 barg) with a 750˚F maximum operating temperature.

The preferred installation of Spirax TD52 Steam Traps is in a horizontal position as close as possible to the equipment being drained. Strainers (20 mesh) should be installed upstream of these traps and full-port isolating valves should be installed upstream and downstream of the trap. UTD52 Thermodynamic Steam Traps can be installed on horizontal or vertical lines and full-port isolating valves should be installed upstream and downstream of the connector whose face must be in a vertical plane.
