Pipe Materials and Applications
One of the three components that make up the PVF industry, Pipe, comes in a variety of materials, each for a specific purpose. From heavy-duty Cast Iron Pipe and Steel Pipe, to Stainless Steel pipe necessary to sanitary applications like food and pharmaceutical production environments, to plastic pipe, used for a wide variety of purposes.
Plastic pipe can be found in both residential and commercial applications. PVC is the most widely used plastic material and can be found in applications from DWV, water mains, water service lines, irrigation and industrial installations. PVC cannot burn without an external fuel source and does not support combustion. Most commonly sold in straight lengths of 20 feet, we can easily cut your PVC Pipe order down to your required length before delivery.
CPVC Pipe is commonly used in hot and cold potable water distribution and in corrosive fluid handling. While it can be used in fire suppression systems because it cannot burn without an external fuel source, it should not be used to store or convey compressed air.
Other common types of plastic pipe are ABS pipe used in DWV applications, PE Pipe, a lightweight material commonly used for potable water, natural gas, and lawn sprinklers, and PEX pipe, used for hot/cold water distribution and radiant heat.
