Level II Steam Utilization Seminars

Over the last few years, Cooney Brothers has partnered with Spirax Sarco to present Level II Steam Utilization and Steam Trap & Regulator Maintenance Seminars. These events complimented the Introductory Steam Utilization Seminars that Cooney and Spirax have been presenting for many years. The Level II Seminar is being planned again for 2014, with the timing to be determined by the needs of our customers.

EasiHeat Maintenance Seminars

  • Consistent and accurate delivery of hot water for heating and domestic water applications.
  • A tankless, instantaneous, user-friendly hot water-producing device with a small footprint.

These are some of the benefits enjoyed by a growing number of Cooney Brothers customers from a variety of industries who have chosen to utilize the Spirax Sarco EasiHeat heat exchanger. In an effort to support those customers, Cooney and Spirax have hosted two EasiHeat Maintenance seminars which took place at Spirax's training facility in Center Valley, PA. Are you producing hot water for domestic or heating applications in your facility? Then you should check out "The Next Generation of Heat Exchangers". Call your Cooney Brothers sales rep for details. Cooney Brothers will make sure you have the knowledge to make the right decision for your application.

Lead-Free Requirements

Cooney Brothers is preparing for the new lead free law. Are you ready? Read the letter from Cooney Brothers for an explanation of what we are doing to help you prepare.

On January 4, 2014, the National Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act (Federal Public Law 111-380) goes into effect. This act reduces the maximum amount of lead to .25% in products used to convey water for potable water applications. The new products that meet this requirement will be labeled and referred to as Lead Free. On or after Jan 4, 2014, it will be illegal to sell or install non-compliant products in potable water applications. Read the full letter here.

Steam Utilization Training

In keeping with a successful tradition of many years, Cooney Brothers hosted a number of "Cooney Day" Steam Utilization Seminars at Spirax Sarco's training facility in Center Valley, PA, in 2014. The all-day seminars were scheduled for January 28th (already full) and February 25th. Steam users from all industries are welcome. As always, this promises to be a rewarding day for attendees, with time spent in classroom presentations as well as Spirax's steam Laboratory. In the Lab, a wide variety of steam specialty products will be operated in live steam service. Attendees get the benefit of having their plant conditions simulated in the Lab. The greatest benefit to all will be the application of newly acquired knowledge gained from this training.

Backflow Testing Certification Course

At the request of one of its customers, Cooney Brothers organized a Backflow Testing Certification Course. The five day course was presented by an American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Certified Instructor and took place within the facility of the requesting customer. Cooney seized the opportunity to invite Maintenance personnel from four other area Universities and Hospitals to the training, as they, like the requesting customer, have large backflow preventer populations in their facilities. Thirteen individuals in all completed the training and were administered the ASSE citification test at conclusion. Customized training - another benefit of working with Cooney Brothers!

Celebrating 75 years

Celebrating 75 Years

It seems like only yesterday that Francis and James Cooney founded Cooney Brothers as a piping and plumbing wholesaler. In reality, it was back in 1937 and 2012 marked our 75th anniversary.

A lot has changed since then and the company has grown and prospered, but one key fact remains the same. Cooney Brothers is still family owned and operated and has the same strong commitment to customer service it always has.

A Brief History of Cooney Brothers:

  • 1937 - Cooney Brothers is established on Lehigh Avenue in Philadelphia, PA
  • 1946 - Cooney is incorporated and relocates to North Fifth St., Philadelphia, PA
  • 1981 - The Cooney Hose Station Line is introduced
